Amateur League Intermediate Round Up 01-05-2014
Another Week and another twist for the Premier Division Title, Dunmurry Rec fighting for their Premier survival stunned Crumlin Star midweek with a 5-3 win. Drumaness Mills 2-0 win against Nortel put them 5 points ahead. Drumaness Mills needs 2 points from their last two games to become champions. They could even be champions tonight if Crumlin fail to win against Killyleagh.
Dunmurry Rec improved their chances of staying in the Premier with that 5-3 win against Crumlin Star. They still need to win their last two games to stand any chance, and hope that Comber Rec don’t win against Crumlin Star this Saturday.
Derriaghy dropping 5 points in the space of 4 days has opened the door for Immaculata in the race for the Division 1A title. The deciding factor, maybe tonight when they will play each other in a potential title playoff.
In Division 1B the league will be decided this weekend with St Patricks YM leading Lisburn Rangers by a point with one game to go. St Pats visit Sirocco Works while Lisburn Rangers are at home to Ballywalter Rec. Both teams had wins against their opponents earlier in the season but these games will be like a cup final for both and it will be a nervous day for both.
There are still four teams in the hunt for the 1C title with Ballynahinch Olympic, Portaferry Rovers Colin Valley and Bangor Amateurs. Portaferry remain in the box seat with points on the board and games in hand over their rivals. Olympic and Colin Valley only have one game left so will be hoping that the Rovers slip up before the end of the season.
