Fixtures Preview: Ballymena Saturday Morning League Preview 13-12-2014

Its the last 16 of the County Antrim Junior Shield and the Ballymena Saturday Morning league still has three teams left in the Competition.  All three have been drawn at home with joint Second placed Ahoghill Thistle taking on Amateur league side Ford.  Thistle have yet to drop a point in the league, while Ford have yet to loose away.  Belfast and District side Cumann Spoirt an Phobail travel to Division 2 leaders Newpark Olympic.  Both teams have only lost one out of the last five games, so should be a even game.  Waveney Swifts play another Belfast and District team Tollymore Swifts.  Waveney will find it tough against Tollymore although they are struggling in the league they are on two great cup runs with the last 16 in both the Junior Shield and the Junior Cup.

With Ahoghill Thistle playing in the Junior Shield both Carniny Rangers and Harryville Homers will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the Division 1 table.  Both are away with Carniny playing FC Moylena and Harryville at Connor, it will be hard to see anything other that two away wins.  All Saints OB will be looking to put last weeks O'Kane Cup Semi-Final defeat behind them will a win away to second bottom Michell.  Bottom side FC Penarol are home to midtable FC Antrim, both teams conceded seven last week but should be less of a goal fest this week.  Clough Rangers will be on a high from last weeks O'Kane Cup Semi-Final win going into the game with Raceview.  Raceview have struggled in the league of late with two draws and three defeats in their last five games, and will be another hard game.  The last game in this weeks Division fixtures see's Abbeyview at home to Ballykeel.  After three straight defeats Abbeyview bounced back with a seven to nil win at bottom side FC Penarol.  Ballykeel however will provide much a harder test currently sitting in fifth position and not lost in five.

The top two in Division 2 both play in Junior Shield this week, so Lisnafillan Swifts will be hoping to overtake Waveney and close the gap to leaders Newpark to five points with a win away to Glenravel.  Glenravel could still have a title charge as they have dropped the least points on all teams above with the exception of Newpark.  Cullybackey are still looking to get out of the bottom two and with a win over Carnlough Swifts at the weekend they will join there opponents on fifteen points. Carnlough will be out for a win to move further away from the bottom.  Ahoghill Rover will be out to forget last weeks semi-final lose in the O'Kane cup when they face Riverdale away.  If any of the two teams need further incentive for the win, Riverdale are a place above Ahoghill in the table.  Seven Towers away win last weekend to title challengers Waveney will give them a much needed boost into the December fixtures. The win moved them up a place in the table to ninth, they are at home to Holywell. A win for Holywell could see them move within a point off second place. Cloughmills Thistle host Galgorm in our final Division 2 game.  Galgorm are in a slump at the moment with five straight defeats, while Cloughmills have lost two and won three of their last five.  Despite their recent form Galgorm are still fourth in the table and shouldn't need much to get them back on track.

Division 3 leaders Randalstown extended their lead over Cushendall with a 6-2 win over Wakehuest Star last week, while Cushendall lost to Sporting Ballymoney.  The week Randalstown host Atletico Antrim and they will be looking to extend that lead even further.  Second plays third with Cushendall travelling to Rectory Rovers.  Rectory are on a great run at the moment with four win's and a draw, Cushendall will be looking to avoid a third defeat on the trot.  Templepatrick currently bottom of the table travel to Woodside.   Both teams are in need for a win, last season saw a ten goal thriller with a 5-5 draw.

In the only other game of the Ballymena Saturday Morning League is the Sammy Moore Trophy 2nd Round 2nd Leg between Steadfast and Sporting Ballymoney.  Steadfast have a lot to do to won this game with Sporting taking a commanding 7-0 1st Leg lead.
