Fixtures Preview: South Antrim Football League 13-12-2014
A place in the Ironside Cup Final is at stake this week with Semi-Finals taking place at Wallace Park, Lisburn. Ballymacash YM take on Braniel in the first semi, while Clonduff YM play Warren YM. Braniel go into their game with Ballymacash the form team and they will be looing for use that form to overcome their opponents. The last time they met earlier in the season it was honours even with a 1-1 draw and this may well be another close run game. Warren YM the current Ironside Cup holders will be out to keeop their hands on the silverware. Both Warren and Clonduff are having a decent run of form and when they last played each other defence and attack canceled each other out with sa 2-2 draw.
In the Premier Division Belvoir who are currently on a bad run play Glaston at home. They need to start picking up some points for their permier survival, Glaston jump a place with a win. South Antrim could close the gap on league leaders Warren with a win at home to Lambeg Rangers. Lambeg are on freefall at the moment with 5 defeats in five and one of bottom spot. Another team in the battle for the title are Sandy Row, defeat last week at the hands of the leaders Warren have slowed down their charge. A win at home to FC United Lisburn could help put that them back on track. FC United have three wins on the trot and will be hoping to continue that run with another away victory.
Division 1 leaders Braniel II could put some points between themselves their closest rivals with Ballymacash YM II playing Orangefield OB III. Village Rec travel to Braniel II hoping to do what most teams have been unable to do so far and that's take some points home. Secondf plays third in the top of the table clash with Ballymacash YM II entertaining Orangefield OB III. The Young Men are on a six game winning steak in the league and will hope to continue that on Saturday.
Bloomfield III travel to Belvoir II with both teams in need of some points to move up the table. Both teams are on a high after convincing wins last time out. Bloomfield with a 5-3 win and Belvoir with a 4-1. Cregagh Wonderers ground out a 1-0 win last week away to FC United Lisburn and the same this week would do the trick with Colin Valley III the visiters to Cregagh,
In Division 2 Ballymacash Rangers III could close the gap on leaders Carrowdore and Warren YM II as both have a free week. Ballymacash Rangers are away to bottom side Clonduff YM III, and an away win would be hard to argue against. Glenavy III also cose the gap with a win away to Moira Albion II. Moira go into the game with slightly better form, but think this game will be a close one. South Antrim II sit in fifth place at the moment and this week travel to Newtown Forrest II. Too many draws have stopped South Antrim for being higher in the table and have only lost one game. Newtown Forest II were the first team to take points of league leaders Carrowdore and should take some comfort that they have the ability just need that confidence. With a draw last week Lambeg Rangers II stopped the run of successive defeats. An away day to 1st Lisburn II and they will be hoping to go one better. 1st Lisburn II have has two 3-2 wins in a row and a third win would give them much needed room from the bottom of the table.
